Which profile depth should I choose? +

20mm or 40mm if the graphic is decorative and should sit flat like framed art, 80mm and up if you want it to read as a solid box standing off the wall. Depth also decides how the frame handles size: a 3m wide panel in a 20mm profile relies on the wall for rigidity, while the 100mm and 120mm profiles hold their own shape across a long span.

Which of these depths can be backlit? +

The deeper ones. Backlighting needs room between the LED array and the fabric, so the 80mm, 100mm and 120mm profiles are the practical choices, and the 120mm gives the most even face. The 20mm to 60mm profiles are front-lit frames, so light them from the ceiling or with track lighting instead. Say which you want when ordering, because the fabric print differs.

How flat does the wall need to be? +

Flatter than most people expect. The frame is rigid and will not follow a bowed wall, so a hump or a dished patch shows as a shadow gap along the edge once the fabric is tensioned. Run a straightedge across the span first. On an uneven surface, pack behind the fixing points to bring the frame into one plane, or choose a deeper profile, which stands the face far enough off the wall to hide the variation.

What do I fix it to? +

Plasterboard with cavity anchors for the shallow profiles, and a stud or a timber batten for anything over 2m wide or 80mm deep, because the leverage on a deep profile is real even though the frame is light. In a shell scheme stand you cannot fix to the Octanorm panels at all, so treat these as products for a permanent wall rather than a hired one.

Where does the power go on a lit one? +

Behind the frame, ideally on a dedicated outlet set inside the frame footprint so nothing shows on the wall. Nominate which side the cable exits when you order, because the exit is machined into the extrusion at manufacture and moving it later means cutting a finished frame. On a fit-out, have the electrician leave the point before the wall is painted.

Can I run the same artwork lit and unlit? +

Not the same file. A print made for a front-lit frame goes dull and slightly grey behind light, and any seam or dark block in the image shows through as a shadow. A backlit print uses heavier fabric and more ink, and looks a little dense when you unroll it in daylight, which is normal. Keep the two versions separate if you own frames of both kinds.

How often can I change the graphic? +

As often as you like, and this is why retailers buy them. The fabric comes out of the channel with a plastic tool in a couple of minutes per side and the new skin pushes straight back in, with no glass, no adhesive and no tools touching the wall. One person can change a 2m panel. Keep old skins rolled rather than folded and they come back flat.
