Which stand size do I order against my floor plan? +

Order the kit that matches the internal dimensions on your floor plan, not the aisle-to-aisle figure. A 3m x 3m kit fits a single shell scheme bay. The 6m x 6m models are island layouts and need clear access on all four sides, so check with the organiser that no service pole or column lands inside the footprint. If your space is 6m x 3m, a 6m x 6m kit will not compress to fit.

What is the difference between Model 1 and Model 5? +

Complexity, not quality. The lower-numbered models are simpler perimeters, usually a back wall with returns, and they build faster with fewer parts to lose. The higher models add towers, headers and internal divisions, which gives more graphic faces and a defined entry but more crate volume and more build time. Pick a low model for a first island stand and step up once you know how the space is actually used.

How many people and how long to build a 6m x 6m kit? +

Three people and three to four hours for a 6m x 6m, assuming the crates land where you are building. A 3m x 3m is two people and about an hour. The frame goes up first with no tools, then panels go on from the top down so you are not reaching over finished faces. Book a build slot early in the move-in window, because scaffolding and forklift traffic will stop you working.

Why magnetic rather than zip-on for a stand this size? +

Because a big stand has a lot of graphic to change. Twelve or twenty panels across a 6m x 6m island means twenty separate decisions about what each face says, and magnets let you reorder them on site when the layout turns out wrong. The cost is weight. Magnets and the steel receiving strip add roughly a third over an equivalent zip-on system, and a 6m kit is a trolley job, not a hand carry.

Is there anything I should keep away from the magnets? +

Yes. These are rare-earth magnets and they will erase a magnetic-stripe card or a hotel key held against a panel edge. Keep laptops, portable drives and card readers out of the panel crate, and stack panels face to face so the magnets close on each other. Warn contractors before the build. Anyone with a pacemaker or an implanted defibrillator should stay 300mm clear and let someone else fit the panels.

Can I add lighting, and what do venues check? +

Clamp lights on the top rails, and yes they get checked. Hall lighting is set for aisles, so a deep island stand goes dim two metres in and the graphics lose contrast. Order the power drop from the organiser when you book the space, not in the last week. Every lead and fitting must be test-and-tagged to AS/NZS 3760, and floor staff at MCEC and BCEC will pull untagged gear off the stand.
