Should I buy a matched set or single pieces? +

Buy the set if you want the display to read as one thing. Four or five arch panels in graded heights already relate to each other, so you are not eyeballing proportions on the day. Single pieces such as the Giant Letter & Number Displays range are how you build up over several events, one name or age at a time. Take five walls if the display is the centrepiece of the room and four if it sits in a corner.

How long does a full set take to put up? +

Allow an hour for a five-wall set with plinths, though each frame clicks together in five to ten minutes on its own. The time goes into spacing and levelling, not assembly. Stand the tallest panel first at 2.28m, step the others down either side, and fit covers only once the positions are right. The plinths are worth the extra: they lift a cake and the numbers above table height, which is what stops guests' heads blocking the display.

Will it fit in a normal car? +

Yes, in a hatchback or wagon with the back seats folded. A five-wall set with plinths travels as a frame bag around 45cm x 45cm x 80cm plus a flatter plinth carton, and the whole lot comes to roughly 45kg. That is two trips from the car, not one, and it is heavier than it looks because the steel bases carry most of the mass. A sedan boot will take a four-wall set without plinths.

Can I set it up on grass or a driveway? +

Both work, with different problems. On grass the steel bases sink unevenly and the panels lean towards each other, so put a paver or a length of timber under each foot. On a driveway watch the slope: even a gentle fall makes a row of graded arches look drunk in photos, and you cannot fix it with the frame. Sandbag every base outdoors regardless, because these panels catch even a light breeze.

Can I reuse the set for another birthday? +

Yes, and the way you design it decides how easily. Keep the name and the age off the large centre panel and put them on one small panel or a plinth wrap, and you can reprint that single piece for the next party while the rest of the set stays. Covers are ordered separately from frames on every product here, so a full re-skin is a fabric order. Frames themselves last years of ordinary use.

How does it photograph on a phone? +

Better in shade than in direct sun. Bright Australian midday light blows out pale prints and throws hard shadows between the panels, so set the cluster where it faces open sky rather than the sun. Avoid pure white as a background colour; it goes grey on a phone and takes the skin tones with it. A soft mid-tone or a colour block holds detail. Stand guests half a metre forward so the panels stay in focus behind them.

Will it survive being hired out most weekends? +

The frames will. The covers are the consumable. Fabric is 250gsm polyester, machine washable, which is what you want when a set comes back with cake on it, but zips and seams wear at the pace you use them, so a hire operator should carry a spare cover for the panel that faces the crowd. Order a second set of feet as well. Bases get dropped, and one bent foot takes a whole set out of service.
