SEG Fabric Displays (Silicone Edge Graphics)

A silicone bead sewn into the printed fabric's edge push-fits into a groove in the aluminium extrusion, giving a flat face with no visible fixings. The range runs from 20mm to 120mm frame depths, media walls to 6m, backlit lightboxes, popups and truss towers.

Good communication. Very helpful. The product we ordered is as we anticipated. A canvas bag was included, along with Velcro tape for installation. Overall, it was an excellent experience. We are very happy with the result and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which frame depth should I choose? +
Depth is set by what the frame has to do, not by taste. A 20mm or 40mm profile is for wall mounting, where the frame should disappear into the wall. Sixty to 80mm is the general freestanding range and takes a floor foot without looking spindly. A 100mm or 120mm profile is for backlit work, because LED strips need that gap to spread evenly across the fabric instead of showing through as bright bars.
How long does it take to fit a graphic and how many people? +
A 3m wide wall takes one person about 10 minutes and two people about 5. Start at a top corner, push the bead into the channel with your thumb, work along the top rail, then the sides, and finish along the bottom where you take up the slack. Do not stretch a whole side in one go, because the fabric ends up sitting crooked and you will pull it out and start again.
Can a non-lit frame be converted to backlit later? +
No, and it is the most expensive assumption people make. The LED channel, the diffuser gap and the driver mount are all extruded into the frame when it is manufactured, and none of that can be cut into a plain profile afterwards. If backlighting is a maybe, buy the lit frame now and run it switched off, or start with Backlit SEG Trade Show Booth Kits where the lighting is designed in from the outset.
How many times can I re-skin the same frame? +
The frame outlasts the graphics easily, so treat it as a ten-year purchase and the fabric as a two or three-show consumable if you fold it, longer if you roll it. The silicone bead is the wear point, and repeated hard pulls at one corner will eventually work it loose from the stitch line. Pull the graphic out by walking your fingers along the edge rather than yanking a corner and it keeps going.
Can an SEG frame be printed on both sides? +
Yes on freestanding frames from 60mm up, where two separate graphics fit into channels on each face with a blockout liner between them so one image does not ghost through the other. Wall-mounted profiles are single-sided by design. Double-sided doubles the print cost and adds a little weight, but on an aisle-facing stand it means the people walking the other way still see you.
What separates the popup SEG booths from the modular SEG frames? +
Construction and build time. An SEG Pro Popup Booth or Foldable SEG Exhibition Display is hinged, so it opens like a concertina with the graphic often still attached and a 3m x 3m goes up in under 20 minutes. A modular frame is separate extrusions bolted together, which is slower on site but lets you change the shape, add a header or run it at a different width next year.
Will an SEG wall fit inside a shell scheme stand? +
Usually, but check the height first. Octanorm shell scheme walls are 2.5m high and the media walls here are built at 2.3m or 2.5m, so a 2.5m frame can foul the organiser's fascia beam. Set the frame 100mm clear of the shell scheme wall rather than hard against it, and never fix anything to the organiser's frame, which is a chargeable repair at ICC Sydney and most other venues.
How do I order the right frame and get the artwork right? +
Tell us the finished face size, whether it is freestanding or wall-mounted, and whether it has to be lit, because those three answers pick the profile. Email support@backdropsource.com.au or call +61 7 3053 8668. We set the file up for you at no charge, including the extra bleed the silicone edge needs, and send a 2D mockup to approve. Freight is free across Australia and the extrusion carries a 1-year warranty.
